Do you ever feel stuck around your goals, or feel like you need to change your plan? The number one reason why people don’t achieve their goals is because of their lack of clarity. Team Goal Digger Coach, Wendy Kat, is going to share her three steps AND an exercise to help you get some clarity around your goals!
Do you ever feel like changing your plans or looking for a new way to do things? Do you find yourself procrastinating, feeling like you just can’t get anywhere? These are all signs that you need more clarity around your goals. Whether it’s a short-term or long-term goal, all goals are important, and they take a lot of consistent action.
The three steps you need to take are –
#1: Identify where you are right now.
Look at all the areas in your life that have impacted you thus far. What worked and what didn’t? Now consider where you want to be. What changes need to be made to get there?
#2: Select three areas in your life that you want to make a change in.
This is really important because we need to look at our lives as a whole and not just one part. When we start goal setting, sometimes we get tunnel vision. We tend to focus on one area of our lives and ignore the others. If you’re focused on only making goals for business, you may not be thinking about stuff that’s going on with you personally. Your physical health, family, and relationships can affect things. So maybe you need to deal with these areas of your life first to be ready and balanced to take on a new opportunity.
#3: Execute, track, and reflect.
This is what we call smart goals. A lot of you already know about smart goals and they’re no good if we’re not clear on our visions. Be clear on what your goals are to be able to execute them. Put a plan in place to track your progress to see where you might need to reevaluate your direction. The biggest part of this is reflection. Make sure that you are looking back to see where you came from and where you are now. It takes a while to get to your goal sometimes and requires you to make small changes along the way. See where you can improve and what your next move should be.
It is so important to make sure that you’re looking at the full picture. You’ll start to notice the natural changes that happen in your life. We develop different needs and it’s okay to adjust our goals. But you need to do it with an intention and with a plan.
