If you’re learning how to build a business online, you need to get comfortable with posting on social media. It’s not an easy thing to do, especially with all of the content that’s out there. Before I started a social media business four years ago, I wasn’t on it at all. It’s crazy to think about the long way that I’ve come since then. In this post I’m going to give you my 3-step strategy to stand out on social media. And trust me…if I can do it, you can too!
- Elevate Your Online Presence
Hire an agency, get a virtual assistant, do it yourself! Any way you choose to do it is fine. But you need to make sure your profiles are high quality. You should have a visible profile picture (with just you in it), a creative cover that shows all of your interests, an organized feed, an optimized bio, and a clear call-to-action. All of these are tactics that will help you look professional and be seen as an authority figure in your industry. As long as you’re showing up confidently online, you’ve got a head start in front of many others.
- Create Valuable Content
Your content should solve your community’s pain points. If you’re speaking to everyone, you’re speaking to no one; which means you need to narrow down who your audience is and figure out what they need help solving in their business. You need to be clear and concise. When they’re looking at your content, are you talking directly to them? I know exactly who my ideal avatar is. And when I create content, I write how she would write, I talk how she would talk, and I post things she would be attracted to. How do you plan to stand out on social media if you’re inconsistent, unorganized, and speaking to the wrong avatar? BONUS TIP: It will be in your algorithms favor to post native on Facebook (text posts, pictures of you and your family, etc.) and then use stock graphics and Canva designs on Instagram. People come on social media to connect, be inspired, be entertained, and educated. Make sure your content falls in those categories.
- Focus on Engagement
Do you have a strategy set in place to move your engaged audience members into the DMs? Messenger is where the magic happens. It gives you a more intimate setting to talk with your lead and nurture their needs. Ask them tons of questions to make sure the conversation stays on them. While you’re doing that, you can qualify them to see if they’re even a good prospect for you. Treat people like people. Not like a number. If they’re engaging with your content, make sure you’re engaging with theirs; turn on their notifications, join their Facebook group, etc. One of the ways I quickly stood out on social media when I first started was by messaging every single person that came into my group. I told them I would coach them for 30 days free to reach their goals. I know that seems a little aggressive, but guess what? I helped them reach their goals and now I’ve established myself.
All of these little tactics helped me get to where I am today with the following I have today. My community is tight-knit because I use all of these tactics to ensure that they’re getting value out of all the content I release. I hope this helps you and I can’t wait to see the value you bring to the table! You’ve got this, Goal Digger!
