The Best Kept Secret and the 10 Mistakes to Avoid!

Whether Facebook Lives, IGTV, YouTube, or Instagram, video marketing is a must.  I have built my followers on social media well into 100,000 in record time through video. If you can connect with people and build your audience, you can blow it up on social media! It’s all about getting people to “know, like and trust” YOU! There is no better venue than video. So, let’s make sure you are doing it the best you can.

 

Mistake #1 – You are not clear on your theme.  Who are you? Maybe your theme is “Beauty”, then you can talk about make-up, skincare, and hair care.  Drill down YOUR theme.

 

Mistake #2 – You are not clear on your target audience. If you are talking to everyone, you are talking to no one.  When filming the video, look at the camera and think about “her”.  How can you speak to her?

 

Mistake #3 – You are not consistent.  You do a 10 day live video challenge and after it’s over, you think, wow… I am exhausted!  So, you stop doing ANY videos for 3 months.  Big mistake!  You are better off doing a video once or twice a week, consistently.   Get so consistent that people can rely on you and build up that “know, like and trust” factor.

 

Mistake #4 – You are not prepared. Use sticky notes, pen, and paper, or even apps on your phone.  People don’t care if you have notes, they care that you are organized.

 

Mistake #5 – You are just selling.  And selling and selling.  You are providing no value. Value is EVERYTHING! Lead with value.  Value, value, value, offer.  Bring so much value that when you do finally go and “offer” they are not resistant.

 

Mistake #6 – You are posting and talking about your company or product name.  STOP! Do not show company name or images with the product name.  A viewer will do a google search and the last thing you want them to do is find that one in a million dissatisfied customer. Or worse they find it on Amazon or eBay where someone is selling illegally and buy it there.

 

Mistake #7 – You are doing no videos at all.  If that is the case, you are leaving money on the table! You are not building the audience you want and not connecting with the person you need.  The power of video is personal, your audience feels like they are sitting next to you.  There is at least one person out there that NEEDS to hear what YOU have to say.

 

Mistake #8 – Your engagement is low. You must engage while on camera.  For example, ask, where are you tuning in from? What state, what city? You have to learn to get them involved during video, otherwise they are just watching.

 

Mistake #9 – Your title is bad, or worse yet you have NO title. Your goal is to stop the scroll! Look for keywords, use emoji’s in the title, use catchy words and phrases!

 

Mistake #10 – You never follow-up.  When you see people interacting and commenting, you must follow up!  Say thank you for watching! Have a system and make sure you are tracking those leads and following up with them.
