If you’re building your business on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube, you are building on borrowed land. At any time, your account can be taken away, turned off, or you can be put in social media “jail”. Don’t put all your eggs in one basket, because if you do, then what? Remember with an email list, you OWN it! So, let’s get started with the 7 best ways to build your email list.
Tip #1 – Freebie Opt-In Landing Page. You do not have to have a website to do a landing page. An email service will enable you to do this also. With a landing page the sole purpose is to offer a visitor all the information regarding your product, service or content you are offering, which they can have access to by providing their email.
Tip #2 – Webinar Registration. Offering a free master class webinar? When creating the webinar on a video platform you will want to have your participants register. Let’s say you are using Zoom. After creating the “meeting” or webinar, you can scroll down through the options to “registration required”. When anyone wants to join the master class or webinar, they must provide their email to register and have access.
Tip #3 – Group Questions. Facebook groups are amazing and if you don’t yet utilize this, I encourage you to start now! Using the membership rules when creating groups, you can create up to three questions that new members are required to answer to join your group. One of those questions should always ask for them to share their email address. Remember, social media is very re-active. It comes and goes quickly. An email inbox is great because your message will sit there until they can get to it!
Tip #4 – Website Pop-Ups. If you have a website you can create email header bars or pop-ups. A header bar you could offer access to some of your free content, and visitors would have to enter a name and email to get the content. A pop-up window would be similar, it would “pop-up” when someone first goes to your website, offering access to content when a visitor shares their email. If you are blogging, doing YouTube videos and putting out great content, you want a website.
Tip #5 – ManyChat Growth Tool. This is a great tool that allows you to create chatbots for Facebook Messenger. You can use these for a range of purposes, things like customer care and marketing. The growth tool that comes with your account at ManyChat has a “landing page”, which you can then have clients opt-in.
Tip #6 – Get a Lead from a Post or a Video. You just put out great content on social media! You shared a great recipe and now comments are coming in and people are asking for the recipe. Time for you to go to messenger and send a quick message letting them know if they share their email address you can send them the recipe! You would also want to ask if they would like to get on your list to receive future recipes. Now you have added to your email list. Be sure to ALWAYS ASK. By law, you must always ask for permission.
Tip #7 – Facebook Ads. Use Facebook ads for warm and cold markets. For someone to get the content you are offering in the ad, they must provide you with their name and email.
