Social media is an ever-changing, complex beast of a machine. It’s totally normal to be intimidated—but stop letting your fears get in the way of your success.
To begin, go on to your favorite platform. What shows up on your profile? Your profile needs to be about you! Build your social media buckets and understand how to follow daily themes on your channels. The algorithm favors personal stories, selfies (not as much glamor shots), and relatable posts. Users on various platforms tend to favor this, too; it can be motivating to see other real people share real stories on their profile.
When it comes to getting over yourself on social, you have to get your mind right. If you feel hesitant, consider posting, then end up ignoring it… you’re getting in your own way.
A great idea of shareable content is to give shout outs. Borrow other people’s success until you have your own! Create a shoutout post to a mentor or teammate or highlighting a user who’s content you’ve been loving. People will soon associate their successes with you.
You become an expert by going out and doing it! Another example is interviewing other people on your profile. You’ll be able to gain credibility by bringing the other person’s expertise to your audience. Then, your followers will begin to associate both of you as being successful business people.
Stop comparing! Don’t think “it’s been done before” because it has never been done by you. Imposter syndrome is real. Get in the habit of logging off the second you start feeling upset by what you’re seeing. Make a conscious effort to eliminate the negativity and intimidation that can come from scrolling. Use social media as a tool to build your business and connect with others but don’t get stuck scrolling for hours!
Don’t compare your journey to someone else’s. Look at others who are further along in their journey and become motivated by their story rather than jealous or comparing yourself. This will allow you to feel excited rather than feeling inferior.
Overall, you are a unique, one-of-a-kind, individual and no one else views the world how you do. You have your own personal opinions, stories, and ideas to share. Let the world of social media know who you are! 🙂
