We all know that cold messaging and spamming is so 2019! It’s time to learn how to get your message out there without the awkwardness of messaging strangers and most definitely not dropping cold messages in peoples inbox. In the last three years, I’ve had 3,000+ people go through my courses from different industries and affiliates and this strategy is something that can be used in any industry or for any product or service.
Before you send that message, make sure that you have a reason to connect with them. It’s more special to the recipient and to you to really have an intention on why you want to message them. Definitely don’t start the message by dropping links to your products, events, or services. By doing that, you’re not giving any background information or even attempting to make a connection with them and they will ignore you. I understand that it is somewhat of a numbers game when it comes to prospecting but if you send so many spam messages, you’re going to burn bridges with people that you didn’t even realize you had and that will only leave you with a select few people to work with.
In this day and age, we’re really understanding the importance of connecting with people. Especially now, when lots of people are building businesses from the comfort of their own home. It’s important to understand how to connect online and make it meaningful. If you’re starting the conversation with a bubbly, inviting tone then you’re more likely to get authentic responses from your prospects. Watch out for natural occurrences on your timeline such as, a new friend request, a comment on your Facebook post or Facebook live, new followers on TikTok, or a new member requested to join your Facebook group. These are all hot leads that you need to track! My suggestion is to track all of your hot leads and alphabetize them into a Trello board. That way, you’re organized on who you’ve contacted and can quickly add names to your prospects list.
Make sure that you have a spiel created and ready to send. That will save you lots of time and will be a great conversation starter. Always turn the conversation toward the person you are reaching out to. You don’t need to give them your whole life story, let it be their turn to share. It’s more likely that they will tell you what they do if you turn the conversation to them. Then, when they ask about you, make sure you know your response and can build your prospecting into the conversation. Next time you send out a prospecting message, keep these tactics in mind and you’ll be turning leads into customers in no time!
