When I look back on how I built my audience from the ground up, one thing stands out to me and that’s the power of live interviews. In this post, I’m going to share how and why lives, live interviews, and Instagram lives really rock audience building.
I started my business in the Fall of 2017 and barely had any followers or audience. The key piece for me in building my audience was going live with professionals in my related industry. I have a friend who built her audience to 80k + followers by doing lives and interviewing people in her network as well. So don’t say it isn’t possible! When it comes to audience building, you can do live interviews on almost every platform, so stick with your favorite so you’re more comfortable with it.
My strategy behind scheduling some of these live interviews is not as hard as you may think. Think about where you’re trying to establish authority and start finding people in your network that have a career in a related or similar industry. For example, if you’re in fitness, go find personal trainers, nutritionists, dieticians, etc. to ask for a live interview. Back when I was first starting my business, my goal was to teach people on how to build a business on social media, so I interviewed a life coach, a therapist, an entrepreneur, and several moms. They all helped me build my authority online to other aspiring entrepreneurs.
So why do live interviews work to help you build your network? Well, you get to leverage their authority and establish yourself in front of their network of people as well. If the person you are interviewing trusts you, it shows their audience that they can trust you as well. Remember, it’s all about your know-like-trust factor. Now you have people coming in to follow you from their network. Not a lot of people are utilizing live interviews on their channels, so hop on as quickly as you can. Get your list going and start contacting people to interview!
