Do you ever find yourself struggling on what to post on social media or even coming up with the basics of your personal brand? Today, I’m here to share with you some of my killer strategies I use to uplevel my personal, online brand. All of these things that I’m going to share with you are able to be done on a shoestring budget with no need to hire a marketing team.
First-off, I need you to understand that, if people are going to spend money with you and they don’t see that you have a professional and organized online presence, they’re definitely going to have some hesitancy around being your client or joining your team. These strategies are important for everyone building on social media, not just business builders because your personal brand is important and it’s all about YOU!
For Facebook, the first thing you should check out is your cover photo. If you have a Facebook profile, Facebook group/s, or a Facebook business page, I want you to make sure the cover is looking fantastic! Spoiler alert: use Canva! Almost anything that you would need to build a personal brand is featured on Canva. I would suggest using the branding feature that allows you to save your color scheme and fonts so you can easily pull them up each time you create a new piece of content. As for the cover photo, make sure you are including a couple of different photos, quotes, or affirmations that you use in your everyday life. Do your best to include close-up, full-face photos of you and not have any part of the photo cropped. Be sure to check your mobile device when you upload your new cover photo to make sure it is completely visible and accessible for anyone trying to view your Facebook profile.
Next – you want to make sure that you have a great profile photo. Make sure you’re smiling, looking happy, and being inviting. We don’t want any smug or unprofessional looks otherwise it will deter people from wanting to interact with you. Another tip that some people don’t focus on is that we need your photo to be a close-up of YOU. If you’re with your family or you’re making a quote graphic your profile photo, no one is going to take you seriously and they’ll probably assume you’re unprofessional. Your photo has to be of your face and it has to be visible from a mobile device. Other ways to improve your personality and brand on any social platform is to include photos of you and your family, engaging questions, posts of you going LIVE, and sharing your wins, progress, and success. Make sure to have a nice, cohesive look with your content.
Let’s move on to Instagram. As for Instagram, you should also make sure you have a nice profile photo that is close-up and not pixelated. Your feed is what people are going to first see when they visit your profile. Don’t post too many quote graphics from Pinterest and definitely don’t blast your product/service too much. People want to see your genuine, authentic side so be sure to post about you! Another tip is to have your favorite filter ready to go so you can use it on every photo you post. You want to have a cohesive, coordinated layout for your feed.
My final tip is to make sure that you’re working on making your stories animated. Some of the apps that I use to animate my stories are InStory and StoryChic. If you’re getting testimonials from your clients, rearrange them and make sure they’re in your branding colors and fonts. Figure out some brand colors and fonts and save them to Canva. You wouldn’t think something as subtle as brand color would make a difference, but it does! Now – go and clean up your personal profile on Facebook and any Facebook groups that you run as well as making sure that your Instagram feed is looking sharp and you’re archiving anything spammy that you don’t need on your page anymore.
