Have you ever met someone who is so passionate and connected to themselves that you need to learn more about them?! I’m so excited to share this interview with my dear friend and student, Courtney Koenig.
Crushing Your Biz & Discovering Your True Passion with Courtney Koenig
Courtney is a current student in my Ignited Life Coaching program and she is a human design coach. Her clients are learning to overcome their limiting beliefs and step into their truest self to accelerate their business for the better.
Kimberly Olson (K.O.): Courtney, introduce yourself to our listeners/viewers and share what you do and how you got into entrepreneurship.
Courtney Koenig (C.K.): I am a human design business coach. I have students all over the world that I teach how to uncover their true gifts and use them to accelerate their goals. I didn’t start off there though, I actually graduated college with a marriage and family relationship degree and quickly realized that wasn’t what I wanted to do.
I did, however, take my passion of teaching and mentoring others to turn it into a career as a human design coach.
K.O.: You are so successful with your coaching business – can you tell us a bit about imposter syndrome and how that may have affected you while starting your business?
C.K.: At each level of entrepreneurship, I realized that my limiting beliefs only stemmed from my mind. It wasn’t what anyone else had told me, it was specifically from my mind. The work that I put in to get through those limiting beliefs though has to be some of my proudest moments.
I always get so into my head about stepping into a new arena but I’m realizing more and more that it’s all about training myself on what my gifts and strengths are. I don’t need to show up how everyone else shows up. I can show up as myself. Learning how to flip the script is HUGE.
K.O.: What is your number one tool to conquer imposter syndrome?
C.K.: I have a very clear 3-step process on how I beat imposter syndrome. First, I become aware of what the limiting belief is, then I journal it out, and lastly, I visualize myself getting past the block.
Sometimes we roll past and don’t think about the limiting beliefs but that doesn’t work to actually beat them. Think of it as a garden. We want our garden to bloom with flowers but the limiting beliefs make it full of weeds and dead plants. I like to think about mowing it over, pulling out the weeds by the roots and brain dumping.
K.O.: How did you allow yourself to pivot into this career change?
C.K.: About this time last year, I was learning from you about all of the best practices on social media. Instead of sprinting into the next thing, I took some time to slow down and research human design a little bit more. I realized that I can take the social media best practices and help other people learn about human design and help them accelerate their businesses with less resistance. I created a program and now I have clients all over the world.
K.O.: If you would’ve had this idea a year ago, you may not have gone through with it. Timing is always what it’s supposed to be.,
C.K.: Yep, absolutely. And now I know that I don’t have to compare myself to other people. I run my business with my innate inner powers and I know that I was made for this. I lean into the discomfort.
K.O.: When you step into your gifts, people will respond so positively to you. You can never go wrong with being yourself.
So, what would you say to those that are viewing this interview that haven’t successfully monetized yet?
C.K.: We’ve all been there where we don’t know what’s next. Just like athletes going through a race, you have to get over the lows. Figure out where the voice of negativity is coming from. Most importantly, do you understand what your WHY is. Take your innate powers and use them to reach your goals.
K.O.: Claim it that you want to make a difference and your views will change. How can people get connected to you, Courtney?
C.K.: Join me in my Rise to Thrive Facebook Group!
