Taking a selfie is a mindset, and in today’s world, it is showcasing who you are. People want to see you and know who you are, which starts with your face! I am going to share the TOP three strategies from one of our Team Goal Digger Coaches, Chaitali Desai, on how to gain the confidence you need to get in front of the camera, so you can grow your biz!
Taking a selfie is not vanity!
Selfies are a mindset, and more importantly, it’s a mindset that’s keeping you stuck. It’s just a story you’re telling yourself so that you don’t have to take the selfie. This is your way to show people who you really are. It’s a way for people to see you. No matter if you’re building a brick-and-mortar business, or you’re building online, people want to see you. They want to know who you are, which starts by showing your face. Selfies help build that trust factor with your avatar, so let’s get into it.
Number one: Have fun with filters.
In today’s world with Snapchat and Instagram, they have some amazing filters, so utilize them! They can help build your confidence. When Chaitali first started her online journey, she was very shy. So she took this exact strategy to help her become confident in front of the camera and even want to be on the camera. Chaitali started with filters, and to this day, her favorite filter is the ladybug filter. It was such a silly filter that it took the pressure off, making it fun for her. So find your favorite filter and utilize it.
Number two: Have a prop.
If you’re a coffee drinker, bring your coffee mug with you. Showcase the coffee mug while you are in the frame. Or maybe you love hats. I’m sure you guys have seen me with the many hats that I wear. I love wearing hats when I take selfies. Using a prop gives your hands something to do, or gives your eyes something to look at.
Number three: Family, friends, and pets – oh my!
Bring loved ones and furry friends into the frame with you. Have a group photo showcasing you with your closest friends. Show you hanging out on the couch with the dog, or going out and about. Make sure you are not hiding in the back; you need to be front and center, enjoying yourself. Are you seeing a theme here? You need to be showing that you are having fun. That is the mindset that I want you to go into taking these selfies.
Chaitali gave me two bonus strategies to let y’all in on. These strategies are what helped her become more confident in front of the camera. For someone who is super shy and who loves to only be in the background, play with your angles. Have you ever looked in a fashion magazine and wondered how the models pose the way they do? Practice, practice, practice! Practice having fun with it. Your energy will speak so much louder than your words will. So if you’re having fun and I see that, I want to have fun. On another note, Before you take your selfie, or even turn on the camera, pump up some music and do a little dance, or maybe do some jumping jacks. Get your energy up to take these selfies.
As you build your confidence, these tools will really benefit you in upping your selfie game. I love having Chaitali on Team Goal Digger because of what she brings to the table. She is a great cheerleader to have by your side. Thank you, Chaitali for letting me share your wonderful tips!
