If you are constantly recruiting and can’t get any traction with your new team members, then you need to learn the power of team incentives for incredible retention!

Many times, leaders are red personalities.  If you are unsure of your color personality or those you are leading, check out the link in the video below for a book on scripts to use with people based on their color personalities.  So how do you know what color personality someone is?  For starters, yellow personalities like to hug, love on people, and relationships are important.  They care about helping others. Red personalities are powerful, bossy, and they love making money and winning incentives. Blue personalities are usually great recruiters. They are always talking and sharing, social butterflies.  They love the fun stuff, trips and parties! Green personalities are analytical, they like numbers, facts and take a while to decide.

In an average network marketing team, 80% of the people just want to make $500 a month.  They love having a seat at the table.  If you, as a leader, are a red personality and you are constantly pushing, you are alienating 80% of the people.  Don’t let your 80% feel like they are letting you down.  As a red leader if you are getting frustrated because you feel like “no one is doing anything”.  That is because you are expecting them to be like you.

First thing you need to do is let go of those expectations.  Then get the book on color personalities.  Figure out the personality type of your people, and what their goals might be.  They may just want extra cash for trips or to pay a few bills, as a side hustle.  They may not be looking for it to replace their full-time job.

Next, set up two types of incentives for your team. Every month you want to have an activity-based incentive and a result based.  Activity always gets you results if you are consistent. It will reward people for doing the work.  Leaders typically only do results oriented incentives, isolating most of the people on their team.  Plan your month out with both activities.

Activity Incentive.  What could you do to reward activity?  Maybe a curiosity post, referral post, or story sequence contest.  Everyone who posts one gets an entry into the drawing.  Referral posts are when you ask customers to post for you.  Give your customer what to post and then you handle the leads that come in.  My favorite is recruiting blitzes.  Points are acquired based for every new person a team member connects with, every friend request and every new follower, they get. Every person they share with about what they do, they get more points.  If they get more friends into their Facebook group, they get more points!  They aren’t making sales, but they are doing activity and you are helping them create good habits.

Results incentive.  An example of a results-oriented contest. For every customer sale, new customer, team member, or rank advancement they get points.  The point values are usually larger based on the result, a rank advancement would be worth more points. When your team is just beginning to emerge and you are trying to get those leaders to step up, offer a special training for everyone who gets to a certain amount of sales.  Keep it simple. If they have a $1000 or more in the month, you will do a special training. It helps people feel that they have achieved something.

The key is to have one of each a month.   An activity based and a result based.  This way you connect with the different personality types. Reward people for their activity and results!  Before you know it, you will be creating retention and a real culture!  Everyone on the team feels successful and that is the name of the game!
