Social media is ever-changing and always evolving. Don’t get behind in the game! There are five strategies to keep in mind so social media algorithms continue to favor your profile and content.
Make sure your content is original and consistent. Don’t repurpose other user’s content. The majority of the content on your feed should be original content. The more professional it looks, the less likely it is to be shared out there. A lack of consistency is a lack of commitment. You must hold yourself accountable to stay consistent and cut out all excuses. If you aren’t consistent, the algorithm will not favor your content and it most likely will not be shared on the timeline of your followers.
Create engaging content. Think of your avatar. What’s in it for them? When they visit your profile, what type of value will they gain? Stop sharing content that is strictly about you and start sharing valuable content that your followers will gain from. Also, include a call-to-action at the end of every post. Stop trying to close a sale, but rather give an additional step to take following the post.
Work the numbers! The algorithm is unique to every social media user. It is essentially a rating of your profile based on the amount of original content, number of followers, and how often you engage with each aspect of your profile. You need to grow your friends list so that you are able to show up as a suggested friend. This will get more eyes on your content and introduce you to many users in the online space. It’s all about getting in front of more people, so get your friend’s list to grow every single day.
Utilize the bells and whistles to boost your algorithm. This includes highlights, stories, FB lives, groups, and more. By using the features and utilizing all of the tools, your posts will gain more traction. Facebook will ultimately boost your algorithm and show your content to more of your friends and followers.
Stay the course! Algorithms are constantly changing. Don’t get in your own head and start speaking the vision you want to live. Put the content out and stick to your posting schedule.
Social media changes are not going anywhere and there will always be new things to learn. Don’t get discouraged and know that sharing content may be trial and error for a while—but you have to start somewhere!
