Crushing it on LinkedIn with Expert Melissa Henault

This week I had the honor to welcome another guest on my podcast. I was actually on her podcast not too long ago and quickly realized that she is my new biz bestie. Her name is Melissa Henault, and she knows all the ins and outs of LinkedIn for online marketers. Getting to know her, we really have a lot in common as entrepreneurs. But as I learned more about her business and the way she built it, it was just so different from the way I did things. I wanted to tap into her expertise and share it with you guys. 

So a little bit about Melissa, she really just stumbled onto LinkedIn. Before what she does now, Melissa was a corporate professional actually, and she has her doctorate as a pharmacist. She realized in her 9 to 5 corporate job that she had climbed the wrong mountain. She had two little kids in diapers, and it was all just way too much. Melissa was introduced to the e-commerce space while she was working her 9 to 5. She started growing her business in the pockets of her time by direct selling. Melissa quickly learned how to recruit and attract business partnerships on LinkedIn. Whereas a lot of her counterparts in the industry, not even just in her company, were mainly on Facebook and Instagram. 

Melissa was able to scale to a multiple six-figure business in a year and a half. She eventually got to the point where she was able to retire from corporate America using her recruitment strategies. Melissa saw the value in her recruitment strategy and figured that it could help more people than just those on her team. She launched her own coaching business centered around LinkedIn, and she has seen it evolve over the years. Melissa realized that attraction marketing on LinkedIn just doesn’t work for people in direct sales. It was for anyone who had something to sell, especially high ticket clients. LinkedIn is such an untapped social media platform that has massive visibility if you are willing to learn the platform. 

Now being seven years out of the direct sales game to just be an online entrepreneur and business coach, she uses LinkedIn for everything! This platform really became her niche because this is where she got comfortable and where her clients lie. I have many coaching clients that have platforms that are just not their thing. I tell them the market will give them clues for what they are doing. Many of them are in the professional space and wonder what platform is right for them.

Melissa says it’s all about where your ideal clients are hanging out. She found out that most people who are on LinkedIn have Facebook and Instagram. But where do they mainly hang out? When she first really got into her first business on LinkedIn, I learned what were called closet network marketers. They were working professionals who were afraid to admit to the world on Instagram and Facebook that they didn’t want to do it that way. From there, she quickly gained this large audience. Melissa was able to build a team of professionals who really wanted to build a passive income stream.

If you’re very business-minded and you’re looking to create teams and organizations, LinkedIn is a really great place to go! That is the platform where people are looking to network about business opportunities. Most of us are in direct sales or network marketing, and we mainly use Facebook or Instagram. I mean, that is where I built my business. But LinkedIn gives off a different kind of energy. The messaging is different, and the people are different. That is where we go to find our business partnerships.
