As someone who was NOT interested in network marketing for over a decade, I can understand where people are coming from when they are skeptical about making money, especially about making money quickly. They typically want to know how much they can make and how soon, and are impatient about the length of time it could possibly take to supplement their income or even replace their full time job. However, this is pretty unreasonable if you think about it from a different perspective.

When you enroll in college, you don’t expect to make a dollar from your courses while you’re there. You may do work study or co-op, but that’s about it. Not only do you reserve at least four years of your life without bringing in any income from school, you go into debt. LOTS of debt. In fact, I saw in Forbes that the average student loan debt as of last year is $37,172! Seriously? Not to mention the lack of income earned during those years of school.

Now this isn’t to knock education as most of you know I have two PhDs and love knowledge, but the intention is to get you to open your mind and look at network marketing differently. At most, you’re probably going to invest $1,000 and should be able to recoup that cost within 30 – 90 days. Not bad compared to the time frame and debt load mentioned above.

And the best part? You earn as you learn. And I don’t just mean you learn about the company and the product line, you learn about yourself, mindset, developing others and so many other skill sets I could go on and on. I’ve never grown so much in my 38 years as I have this last year in network marketing.

So if you’re new or you’re bringing new people onto your team, remind them to practice patience. I’m talking even that entire first year to implement major patience. Because if they do, they will set themselves up and their teams for incredible, long-term and oh so rewarding success!
