As a network marketer, you have something to offer to your audience, but do you know when you should bring up your opportunity? I notice a lot of network marketers miss the mark on finding the perfect time to share their offer with a prospect. Some also struggle with figuring out how to bring up their opportunity without spamming people or making it awkward. I’m going to share with you the best way to engage with your audience and share your opportunity without coming off as spammy.
We come from an environment of network marketers that were taught to cold message, spam, and ignore people’s interests when sharing their product or service. Unfortunately, that is still prevalent in our industry today. However, I think that, because we’re so turned off by cold messaging, we go to the other extreme, which is being afraid to message people and never letting them know about our opportunity. People need to know what we do, what we offer, and who it’s for, otherwise you’ll never have interested prospects. Do you struggle with how you bring up your opportunity?
One suggestion I have for you is to not be so shy about sharing with others what you do. If you watch my #getLIT trainings or Facebook LIVE videos then you’ll notice that I’m always talking about the fact that I’m a network marketer and have built my dream job and life by being a network marketer. If people don’t know what you do, how are they going to be able to raise their hand and say “I want to be a part of that!”?
First, you need to understand that there needs to be a little bit of back-and-forth conversation before you tell them what you do, otherwise, you are cold messaging. You should visit their feed/profile to qualify whether or not they could be a potential prospect. When you reach out to someone single-handedly and connect, they will feel way more comfortable sharing their pain points with you. So you should do a little bit of background research on your leads before sending a message. When you reach out, make sure you are showing understanding and providing resources. (Bonus tip: If you’re not making new connections every day, you’re going to run out of leads quickly.) If the people you message don’t want to jump in on your opportunity, it may just not be the right time for them! If you continue engaging with their content, they will potentially follow you on social media and start digesting your content. Before you know it, they’re in your Facebook group reaching out to YOU saying they want to know more!
Your goal is to get to know your leads before you offer your opportunity. Make sure you understand their pain points and that your offer is a solution for them, not just another sale for you. The people who understand how this process works are going to be very successful and still be around years down the road. Don’t rush the process. Take the time to get to know everyone you connect with in the DMs.
