How to Develop Your First 100 Followers

How to Develop Your First 100 Followers

One of the most common misconceptions about monetizing your brand is that you need thousands of followers to run a successful business, and that is just not the case. So, I am going to dive into how to get your first 100 followers!

The first 100 are so important because those are essentially your first customers. From those 100, they will be your future sales, repeat customers, referrals, and, most importantly, LOYAL fans. They will have been with you from the start, and they will stick with you!

Definitely, one of the misnomers out there when it comes to building a business on social media is that you need hundreds of thousands of followers. It’s that credibility and authority. However, for you to hit your first milestone in your business, whatever that may be, I propose that you need as little as 100 followers.

Now, why is this the case?

Your first hundred followers or loyal people who really want to be a part of your super fan brand will become your first customers and clients. And through that process, they are going to reoccur. You’re going to have future sales from them. But most importantly, these are the ones that are going to build your brand because they are going to give you testimonials or referrals. That is how you’re going to grow exponentially. From there, think about organic growth that you’re going to create on your own through lead magnets or running ads down the road. That’s how you can 10X your business, but you have to start somewhere.

How will we build out those 100 followers and build off of it?

First, you need a container that holds your most loyal people. You’ll often hear this phrase in the online space.  So if you’re going to be specializing in working with women who have to overcome their mindset and limiting beliefs so they can crush it in their businesses, where are you going to hold them? How are you going to nurture and grow them? My first container was a Facebook Group. I put a hundred people in there, and it was called All-In with Kim. And now, I’ve grown my Facebook groups to over 50,000 members.

You want to create something inside the container that people will enjoy. So let’s say you want to put people in a Facebook group, then you’re going to run a free challenge, a guest expert interview series, a masterclass, or a webinar. Doing this is outside of the container where we are finding people and connecting the people who want to be a part of what you’ve got going on. Especially if it’s the first time you’re announcing it, they will raise their hand that they want to get in.

Once they get into your container, I want you to get to know everything about these people. I want you to friend request all of them, look at their profiles, and find out things about them. Send them a welcome message welcoming them to your container. If you are doing a Facebook Group, you can set up questions to capture different qualifiers via email. All you’re doing is some fact-finding. Your 100 is where you gather all the data and get to know everything about your avatar.  You’re also going to see if you’re attracting the right people.

When you get the first 100 built out and have a solid foundation for the right audience that you’re building, you are finding the solution to their problem. Once you figure that out, you can create the content around it. I’ve been there, where I posted things and just put offers out there. I didn’t have my hundred super fans, but once I found them, that is where I saw growth.

I don’t recommend building multiple containers at once. Start off with either a Facebook Group or email list, but not at the same time. If you can kill two birds with one stone and have them join the Facebook group and give you their email, that’s great. But the intention needs to be in one spot. No one can do it all. Put down the first piece, and the rest will follow.

If you don’t understand how to build an audience of 100, how will you build an audience of 1,000, 10,000, or 100,0000? Audience building is the most important skill set, in my opinion, outside of learning how to make an offer. No matter what happens in your business, you need to have the ability to pivot, rebrand, relaunch, or start over if needed. This is very fundamental to having success long-term for your online business or storefront, especially on social media.
