How many of you would like to boost your sales? If this is you, you need to understand the importance of the know-like-trust factor. It is one of the most important strategies to keep in mind while prospecting and networking for your business. Remember that so many people do what you do – so why would people work with you over someone else? This is where building your know-like-trust factor comes into play! If you can master this, I have all the faith in the world that you can grow and crush your business in no time.
So, what exactly does the know-like-trust factor mean and how can I become a master at it? The know-like-trust factor is a way of gauging how authentic you’re appearing online; it means that people feel like they actually know you. If people don’t trust you then they are not going to do business with you. The power of social media gives you the opportunity to show up genuinely and build trust with people online. Although it seems difficult to do virtually, I am going to give five steps that will blow your know-like-trust factor out of the water.
First is to make sure your content shows vulnerability. Don’t attempt to appear like an influencer and pretend that your life is perfect, because it’s probably not most days. Be authentic and share the struggles that you are going through. If you put your struggles online, you’re not exposing yourself; you’re sharing your journey, progress, and insights. This shows that you’re comfortable getting a bit personal with others and it also gives them a chance to relate to you on a closer level.
You also need to learn how to become a wizard in messenger. You are going to be connecting with tons of people – sending birthday messages, replying to comments, asking about Facebook posts of their family – and plenty more. The best way to get comfortable with messenger is to make a lot of connections. We’re not cold messaging or spamming here. We’re going into this with the goal of getting to know them and building a relationship with them.
Make sure you’re getting really good at asking genuine and engaging questions – talk about them! It’s not okay to cold message a link to someone that has never expressed interest before. They could have had something happen in the past that turns them off from that product or they could even write you off forever and then there goes your chance at a connection. Ask questions and be receptive of their answers.
Next, serve and mentor wherever possible! If you see an opportunity to provide them with a tool or resource, send it their way. A great way to establish connections is to appear on their pages with helpful tips and tricks! For example, if they’re going live on Facebook for their first time, leave a comment and show your support to them. When you serve and mentor others, they naturally feel obligated to do the same to you.
Lastly, be consistent. The trust factor is everything. If you’re showing up and then you vanish, the trust does not continue building, because they don’t see you bringing value anymore. A lack of consistency is a lack of commitment. Show up every day, build your know-like-trust factor, and don’t stop until you reach your goals. If you are committed to showing up every day, you will learn so much and be able to provide value with your connections.
