Have you ever heard the phrase, “When you stop selling and start serving, you actually sell MORE?” Well, it’s true! You need to learn to put value first in your business to find your ideal avatar and people to help. When you understand this principle and really get it down, you will see such a huge transformation in your business. You will also feel so much more aligned with how you’re building your business and how people are responding to you. So, if you’re getting crickets on your content, getting ghosted, or not gaining the traction that you need in your business, this is the blog post for you!
Why be an influencer?
Let’s say there was someone in Austin that was a lifestyle expert. Their job is to come in, and they help you make your home more of a home. They help you figure out ways to make it more enjoyable and a reflection of who you are. If I knew that they weren’t tied to any specific brand, their believability would be much higher. I’m more likely to believe them and trust what they recommend. If they tell me they have the best designer ever, I would more likely want to use that person. So, what does this have to do with you and your business?
Instead of being a glorified sales rep for your company and only posting about your company and products, you want to shift to being an influencer. To do this, you want to take the products you are representing or whatever you’re doing and back out a little bit. You want to become an expert in more than just one product line. So if you’re in health and wellness, could you also recommend activewear? Could you also recommend some workouts that people could do or recipes they could make?
If you get more well-rounded and back away from selling, you go from a supplement dealer to a health and wellness influencer. People are way more likely to trust you, follow you, digest your content and start trusting the things you’re recommending. It gives you way more content for social media, so you’re not posting the same products over and over again.
More content and more value.
You can totally infuse new life into your business. It can give you new ideas for content, which will make you more excited to post great content and more likely to think it through. Your audience will respond accordingly and enjoy your content as well. They’re much more likely to click your stories, tune in for your Facebook live, or look at your Instagram post because they enjoy your content, and you start to add real value to their lives. Instead of just being the shampoo dealer or whatever you sell.
I really want to see you making that shift on social media because it not only helps you, but it also helps the industry. We have to move away from spamming and selling. It helps the people interacting with you – your followers and your audience – and how they feel with the communication they’re having with you.
