One of my favorite parts about business building on social media is using amazing tools at our fingertips. These tools allow us to get in front of more people and share what we do without spamming our friends. So, what tool can you use to get in front of your avatar without feeling icky because you’re spamming them? Stories are your way to stay top of mind with your avatar without being annoying.
But do stories still matter with reels on the scene? Yes, and I am going to tell you why.
I had a student last year who built her business to $50,000 in sales per month in volume. Just guess where she got a hundred percent of her sales from? Her stories! The way she did her marketing is how I teach affiliate-style marketing. She used her wall not to sell. So her wall was filled with hauls, try-ons, or clothing she had just bought. But she would go to her stories to sell. So if you’re frustrated with social media, I’m going to challenge you to do that.
Energy goes where attention flows.
Are you using social media for good? Are you using it to grow your business? That’s the name of the game. So let’s dig into how to make your stories sizzle! What we want to remember is there are a few key elements of Instagram Stories.
Start doing multistories.
Why do we need a multistory, and what is that? A multistory is where we are actually telling a story in multiple parts. Instead of each story post being a static picture, and the next slide is another static picture covering a different topic, stay on that one topic for multiple slides. For example, if you want to post about drinking more water in your stories, the first slide could be a graphic on how much the average person should drink water. Then the next slide could be all the benefits of drinking water. The next slide can be a boomerang of you drinking your water and, after that, finish off with a call to action.
Just posting a static story picture doesn’t give your avatar anything. It doesn’t pull them in. When you pull them in, they start getting used to your content. They start getting used to seeing you at the top of their feed and that talks to the algorithm. If they are not pulled in, that’s when they pop off. They come in and they just pop off. That is your bounce rate – how fast they leave from your stories. The algorithm can detect that. So if you build a story and want people to stay a certain amount of time, what can you do to make them?
Use videos in your stories.
Videos in your stories can be a big hit, but did you know about 70% of people watch videos with the audio off? So you want to make sure that you use the caption feature in your stories. You’ll be missing out on a lot of people if you don’t.
But also pay attention to the actual video. Don’t use the videos of products and show what is the next best deal. I want to see you using the products as if you bought them for yourself. We are not selling it. We are sharing what we love with others so they can love it too. Videos like this work because you’re talking and connecting with your avatar.
Here are my favorite story apps.
My go-to favorite apps that always have my stories looking amazing are StoryChic, Instories, and InShot. We have tutorials for these inside of our Instagram Course. These apps are great for templates, editing your videos, and so much more to make sure your stories are fire. You will be able to keep your stories on-brand with your socials so everything blends together. You should be posting in your stories every day and I want you to make it a goal to have at least one video-type story a week. It is now so easy to make your stories fun and inviting to be able to post what you are doing.
You should be posting 2 times per day.
Now we are not going to be in our stories 24/7. I hardly ever spend time on my stories. But when you post twice a day, you’re going to get bumped to the top of the newsfeed. So when people pull out their phones and they see your little circle at the top of their feed, they are so much more likely to click your story and check it out. It’s just that repetition over and over again. Stories start to get old and new stories are going to get bumped to the top. So post twice to keep you at the top of the stories feed.
Bonus tip!
I want you to create a folder on your cell phone. This is going to be your evergreen folder. You are going to keep the folder going. Just start filling it with content as you make it. Then 6 months from now, you can reuse that content. Use that content in your stories because you are using it for another purpose. You’re going to get to a point where you have all this content.
These are the best strategies that I use to make my stories on fire. Make your stories engaging where they want to stay for that 60-second video or take that poll. These are game-changing tips you are not going to want to miss out on.
