Learning how to present yourself on social media is the strongest thing you can do as an online business owner. So let’s touch on the key points to building your online presence, which includes developing a personal brand, showing up daily on social media, and getting really good at talking to your prospects.
When you think about social media, you think about having that presence and posture. So I have a five-part powerplay that is going to take you from being somebody who’s not very confident, to knowing your worth on social media.
You need to increase your visibility.
You’re going to have to start showing up daily. Show up every day, even today. It’s a struggle for a lot of us, but on most days, I am able to get a TikTok video done, and a Reel on Instagram and Facebook. Sometimes I go live four times a day. That’s crazy, right? But, you have to show up every single day.
If you miss a day, you can lose your spot in the newsfeed. The algorithm will cause your engagement to go down because you have fewer people seeing your stuff. There is a trust factor that is in play too. It really does kick in with the subconscious part of it for people. When they see you every day, they know you’re reliable. They know they can trust you. It really becomes a part of their daily usage on social media.
People are trained to respond to your stuff by commenting and adding reactions. It is the same with stories. Being in your stories every day can get you at the very top of the feed.
Your audience will get used to seeing that and continue to wonder what you are doing. They are really going to want to digest the content you are putting out there.
Go live weekly.
There are multiple ways to go live. You can go on IGTV, YouTube, Facebook, etc. There are all kinds of ways to get in front of your audience, including Zoom or StreamYard. But again, it all depends on consistency. Video is where you establish credibility and authority. It’s very powerful!
Funnel people into a Facebook group.
You guys know I love Facebook groups. It’s my favorite place to be because it’s my people, it’s my community – a closed door where everyone can’t see this content. If you think of where you can offer value and make people’s lives better, it’s going to be inside of a value-based Facebook group. This is not a VIP group or a group to post sales all the time. This is a group where we’re truly serving our community without the outcome of selling to them. This can seem very counterintuitive because people wonder how they are supposed to sell. When you stop selling and focus on serving, you will sell more.
Ask yourself, is what you’re doing working right now? Is it working for you if you have a VIP group or no group at all, or do you now know that you need a value-based Facebook group? Facebook groups are very powerful. This is where we take our leads and nurture them.
Develop a personal brand.
You should be branding YOU. People buy from those that they know. What do you want to be known for? That’s the question of the day. Whenever I ask students this, I’m always surprised at how many don’t know. You have to be on a straight path, and you must be really focused. You can do whatever you want. It could be something that you have experience in, but you want to translate it to a different audience. I want you to spend some time developing your personal brand and figuring out who you are.
Get great at closing.
I get my girls on my team to send me screenshots of their conversations that they’re not selling or converting in. It comes down to them not actually asking for the sale or to join the team. They are missing that simple step of asking the question. They are not giving people the space to say yes. Stay top of mind and continue to ask the question in different ways. You want to get better at asking questions about them before talking about your opportunity or sending a link. Remember, stop selling and focus on serving. You’re actually going to get more sales that way.
