The 5 Step Strategy to Reviving Your Facebook Group Like a BOSS

As somebody who has grown her Facebook groups to over 50,000 members organically, I have a 5 step strategy to revive your Facebook groups, for you to be able to build your business through social media, community, value, and nurturing. If you’re sitting here going, “I don’t know who to sell to.” You have a problem, and we need to solve that problem. Imagine building your business by serving and offering value dialed into what your community wants. Then they buy from you because you’ve built up a trust factor to stay top of mind.

I’ve been able to build to the top half percent in my company. My company’s been around for almost 10 years. Probably most of you don’t even know what company I’m in, but my understanding of Facebook groups is what helped me get where I am, and I want to teach you how to do the same thing. 

Let’s start with a rebrand.

This is where you give your brand a makeover of some sort. You might want to rename your group or add a new Facebook cover. You want it to look good so people can tell you’re serious when they come into your community. It should show that this is something that you’re committed to. Now that your Facebook group is looking the part, you need to rebrand the actual content. Instead of it being a VIP club, and here are all of your sales, think of what you could offer to people to lead to your services or products. You can offer education, tutorials, resources, etc. Anytime you make a major change, such as changing the title of the Facebook group or starting to dial in on the content, Facebook will notify everyone in there. 

80% of your content needs to be value-based. 

Remember this, follow the 80/20 rule! We want to think about how we can have most of the content in there be value based. Then the 20% is what you are selling. If you follow this rule, it provides for great balance. For example, every 5th post on social media is a selling post, and the other 4 can vary based on your content, such as a quote, tip, or question. Following the 80/20 rule will not fatigue your audience. They won’t glaze over your post, and you won’t blend into the crowd. Instead, you will stand out because most people don’t do this. Most people are just using Facebook groups as a dumping place to drop sales and promotions. And that just doesn’t work. 

Message every member in your group. 

Go to the member’s tab inside the Facebook group, and you can see all the members you have in your group. I would take those names and put them on a Trello board to track your messaging. Reach out to your members to personally thank them and check in with them.  They might not engage with you at that moment, but that will absolutely stand out to them. They will remember you the next time you post, and when they see that notification, the chances of them clicking on it to check out what you got going on is very high. But at the end of the day, when they are ready to buy what you’re selling, they will be the first person who reaches out to you because you care.

You are going to grow it.

How are we going to do that? You will plan some awesome stuff inside this Facebook group, and you’re going to invite people to it. Posting in your Facebook group every day is great, but the way you’re going to stand out is by putting cool stuff inside the Facebook group. For example, this is where you might run a free challenge or interview. Maybe you have an expert interview series or a big giveaway. By doing this, you will draw people to you. People are not searching around trying to join more Facebook groups. We all have too many Facebook groups that we’re in, but if you put value in there that people want, they know they’ll get something out of it. 

You’re going to have to be consistent. 

Let’s say McKayla is a new Facebook group member of mine. Facebook will default to putting her notifications onto highlights. What does that mean? If I post every day in my Facebook group, McKayla might get three notifications for the week. If McKayla receives a notification, she might pop into my group and check out what I posted. But the next notification, she’s scrolling through, and she sees I posted in Goal Digging Boss Babes. If she doesn’t click on it, she’s telling Facebook, I don’t know about this group. And you know what happens? She gets less and less before they’re gone and she will no longer get Facebook notifications ever again unless she proactively goes and finds it or something big happens. This is why consistency is so important because at least a few times a week, your people are getting notified, and that’s telling Facebook they want to see your stuff. 

These 5 strategies will help you level up your Facebook groups to start gaining traction in your business. It’s all about providing value to your community and building that trust factor.
