The What, Why, and How of Lead Magnets

Last week I wrote on the topic of lead magnets and how you can create them for your business; this week I want to share all the importance of lead magnets and why they are a necessity in your business. If you are someone who doesn’t know what a lead magnet is, how it’s useful to your business, or why you would even need one, keep reading along! The reason we need lead magnets is to attract leads to you on autopilot. Last Friday, I took the day off and made upwards of $6,000 just because I had automated systems in place. That’s the magic of lead magnets! You create them and auto post them on several platforms and let the leads come to you. That also shows the power of leveraging your income and social media. Anything you can do to put automation in your business will allow you to get more done and not be on your phone constantly! Doesn’t that sound nice? 😉 

Let’s first discuss the ‘what’ of lead magnets – What type of lead magnets can you create? There are hundreds of ideas for lead magnets, you just need to find the one that best suits your products and/or services. A couple examples that you could put together are: an eBook, video trainings, quizzes/surveys, webinars, or cheat sheets. If you have done one of more of these actions, come up with a template and turn it into a lead magnet. Some important things to note are that quizzes and surveys have a high-conversion rate because people are curious to know what their skill sets are, and if you’re offering them a free quiz to take, that’s of interest to them! Another thing to note is that webinars can be a bit more advanced but they provide a lot of value to the viewer; so, yes, it may take more time but it could also gather lots of new customers. 

Now we know what lead magnets are and why they are important…so let’s end on how you know which lead magnets will work best for your business. When thinking of which lead magnet to put out there, pick one that adds value and can lead to a conversation about your products and services. If you sell health and wellness supplements and you offer a “Free Smoothie Guide” as your lead magnet, figure out how you can incorporate your own products as the follow-up to the viewers. Your freebie should be designed so that if your ideal avatar comes upon it, they will get led down your sales funnel. Ask yourself: What is something that I can offer where my product and/or service can be the solution? Try to create a lead magnet on your own and send it in the comment section for review!
