If you are posting videos in your stories without captions, you are missing out on a lot of people. Most people are at work or with their kiddos and can’t listen to audio. By getting people to be able to digest your content in a way that works for them, you can reach so many more people. You can add subtitles outside of Instagram when creating them in an app or when you record a video in Instagram. Instagram can transcribe your videos and make a fun floating caption to place in your stories. Sometimes Instagram doesn’t always get the words right, so you can edit the transcription by clicking on the caption. Make sure that captions are correct on each slide if you have a multiple-slide story.

Mix Captions is one of those great apps where you have a recording of you talking or take a video, and it will generate captions for you. You do have to pay for this app, where Instagram is free, but I want to give you all the options. You might want to just share some audio from somewhere else, such as a podcast snippet, so you can use this tool to caption it and upload it to Instagram.

I saw a huge increase in my story views when I started captioning everything. We transcript our podcast, YouTube videos, and Facebook lives. Literally, we caption anything and everything. We also do this if somebody is watching our content and they do not speak English or might be hearing impaired. I want to do everything in my power to let everyone be able to view my content.
