Do you use email marketing in your business? If not, it’s time to jump on that train, girlfriend! If you still think that email marketing is too hard and takes up too much time, you’ve been lied to. Today I’m going to share with you what email marketing really does for your business, what the planning process looks like, and, I’m going to EXCLUSIVELY pull up my analytics from my own email marketing campaign so you can see the jump in numbers.
I, myself, started using email marketing back in 2011 when I launched my first brand FitKim. My Goal Digger team and I started using email marketing in January of 2020 through the platform ConvertKit. At the time of this blog, we’ll have had the email sequences running for just over a year and a half. We have become very consistent and much more strategic over time. We have sent out over 5 million emails in the last year and a half with 35k subscribers and a 20% open rate. I know what you’re thinking, “20% open-rate is nothing,” but it is. Yes, text messages, Facebook messenger, and DMs have a higher open rate but, something you need to understand is, if you are only building on social media, you’re building on borrowed land. If your account gets hacked or shut down, how are you going to communicate with your community? Relying solely on social media platforms is not a long-term strategic plan for your business. Also, I’ve had over 1 million emails opened, that’s INCREDIBLE!
There are two main places of importance to monitor when building an engaged, valuable community. First is your Facebook groups and how many members are participating in them. The reason you need to keep track of this is because it’s your online community where you can nurture your audience. You may have lots of Instagram or TikTok followers but where’s the community aspect on those platforms? You track your group members so you know how many people you’re working with to convert. For example, my network marketing company is offering a masterclass next month and I know that if I go into my private Facebook group and share the business opportunity of working with me, I can at least convert a few people because I have over 5,000 members in my group.
The next, most important, thing to keep track of is your email list. Why? Because you OWN your email list. If your account gets shut down or you land yourself in Facebook jail, you can share with your email subscribers where they can find you while you’re solving your social media issues. The other nice thing about email marketing is that the reader can open it and engage with your email on their terms. So what if they don’t open it right away? Maybe they’re waiting for a moment to sit down and really engage with your content. Last, email marketing is easy-as-pie to automate. You can even hire a VA to do it! By automating email sequences you can offer more insight on your business and who you are as well as sell your courses on AUTOPILOT.
There are many email marketing platforms that make it simple and successful for you to try your hand at writing email sequences. Here are a few of the resources I’ve either used or heard good feedback on:
